Vinzenz Urbas

Boxlock Ejector 12 Gauge

Vinzenz Urbas (Ferlach Austria) Boxlock Ejector, circa 1952, 12 Bore, 6 lbs. 7 oz., 27 1/2" (70cm) Bohler Blitz fluid steel barrels with machined vent rib,  2 3/4" chambers, front and mid beads, rib engraved "Vinz. Urbas Ferlach", Briley thin-wall choke tubes installed, ejectors, scalloped boxlock action profusely and finely acanthus scroll and game scene engraved with pheasants on left and ducks on right, pleasing muted french grey action finish, double Kersten style action locks, top tang mounted automatic safety with "S" in gold, disc-set strikers, double triggers, European walnut stock with capped pistol grip, three-piece forend, 14 5/8" LOP over a pad, 1 1/2" DAC, 2 1/2" DAH, 1/16" cast off, stock oval with script initials "RJT". Excellent condition gun without any issues, new matte oil stock finish, checkering freshly recut, new pad, looks like a rear sling stud was removed and plugged on bottom of butt before refinish (with no evidence of a front ever existing).  Bores look excellent and are slightly undersized at .724 both, minimum barrel wall thickness at .025 both.  A very attractive and lightweight gun with really nice engraving by a known and numbered Austrian gunmaker.
