Holland & Holland Royal Sidelock Ejector, 16 bore, 2 1/2" chambers, 25" original fluid steel barrels with original Nitro proof of 1 1/8 oz. and a 1978 London reproof of 3 TONS, choked .008 IC and .015 Mod., ejectors, 6 lbs. 2 oz., 14 1/2" LOP over a leather pad, 1 1/2" DAC, 2 1/4" DAH, 5/16" cast off for right hand shooters, best bold acanthus scroll engraving with the maker's name in an elaborate cartouche on the sides of the action, the bottom of the action has the same bold scroll work along with beautiful and uncommon orchids, the fences have finely carved sea shells, straight grip, splinter fore end, double triggers, vacant gold oval in stock, nicely figured English walnut stock, gold line cocking indicators, action engraved "Holland & Holland" on both sides, bottom of action engraved "Royal Ejector Patent No. 20979", barrels engraved "Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street London W.", top lever engraved "Patent Ejector", sunken rib, drop points, automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold. Completed in April 1894 for a Mr. Kettlewell. Excellent condition without any issues. Min. wall thickness .027 and .021. A very nice, light, and lively 16 bore by this famed London maker. Don't be afraid of shorter barrels. 25" barrels are still very popular in England. Most of our upland bird shooting is flushing work which yeilds mostly quick, point and shoot which is what these quick moving guns were made for.
