Hardy A.H.E. Wood No. 3 (as new), 12 ft, 3/2, 13.25 oz., 9 wt, ordered in the 1970s by noted Steelhead fisherman Chuck Doke, this rod is absolutely new condition just as it was delivered by Hardy with the plastic still on the grip, this rod is part of a 3 rod set with all being 12 ft. in length and a 7, 8, and 9 wt. Mr. Doke had two sets made and used one set leaving this set unused. These rods were designed in the early part of the last century by Wood and detailed in Jock Scot's book "Greased Line Fishing". Hardy had not made these rods for decades and were special made for Mr. Doke. He says it took Hardy three years to find the right culms of bamboo to make these without a steel center as they originally were. Mr. Doke and these rods were mentioned in the 1980s reprint of Greased Line Fishing in the new foreward. Mr. Doke who is a very accomplished caster who fished with Stan Bogdan, Alec Jackson, Syd Glasso, and others says these rods can do things that no other rods can. They are also designed where they can be fished double or single hand. These are being sold invidually or as a set at a discount. A one of a kind opportunity to own these as they very well may be the only set left in existance.
