Jim Payne Model 205, 8 1/2 ft., 3/2, 5 oz., 6 wt, aluminum uplocking reel seat over cedar spacer, brown wraps tipped in black, wonderful and very scarce model with a great faster dry fly action. These 205 models rarely surface. Len Codella noted in 2001 that he had only seen four of these models. They all seem to be purchased directly from Payne and not through A&F as is the case with this one as the A&F stamping on the end cap is not present. This rod has been rewrapped and revarnished by Daryll Whitehead, original tube and bag with hang tag present (though not readable)but not attached. All sections are straight and full length but the mid has been scarfed (we don't know by who) at the last about six inches, excellent ferrule fit, the ends of the tips get darker but seem to be all original. This is not a collector's specimen but a nice sound fishing rod and priced as such.
