H.L. Leonard 40 Pre-Fire, 8 ft., 3/2, 3.3 oz., 4/5 wt, Pre-fire Leonard model 40. The 40 was the longest and heaviest weight of the Fairy Catskill line of rods with a medium to soft action. bright nickel silver sliding band over cork, end cap is stamped "The H.L. Leonard Rod, Leonard & Mills Co. Makers", red silk wraps, clear agate stripper, bright nickel silver ferrules with typical leonard patent dates stamped, a wonderfully delicate pre-fire leonard. The wells grip and cork spacer are certainly not typical and are likely replacements, the mid section male ferrule has been reset resulting in an almost unnoticable 1/16" shorter section, the butt section ferrule has a mark around it (didn't show up in photo) but fits great, the stripper has been rewrapped, original tube, replacement bag. Not a perfect collector specimen but a sound ready to fish rod at an attractive price.
