Comes with Cody letter with one notable exception. The rifle with originally shipped with the shotgun butt and rubber plate. The records show the rifle was received back at Winchester on May 5, 1905 but the records do not show what was done but all agree that the original purchaser did not like the wood or the rubber butt pad and it was either immediately sent back after puchasing or at least as soon has the first season's hunting was done and the wood was upgraded to the current Deluxe wood and with the normal contoured steel butt.
