Orvis, 1874 Patent Reel, an original 2nd model, riveted construction, this is the reel considered to be the first ventilated fly reel, 2 3/4" diameter, very narrow 3/8" spool width, removable handle, nickel plate over brass, the back plate carries "C.F. Orvis Maker, Patented May 12, 1874, Manchester VT", shows no preference to RH or LH wind, click still firmly intact, all original with original length foot, shows about 75%-80% of plating remaining with some bends in foot, rims are in excellent condition, without it's original walnut box, a must have reel for any collection.
