Daryll Whitehead Presentation Fly Tying Tool Set, rare and rarely seen a Whitehead Presentation Fly Tying Tool Set, most of us have only seen these either in the photo spread accompanying the Art of Angling's premier issue article on Daryll or in Arne Mason's leather good photos. Every five years or so, he'll get the urge to make one and then he remembers why he doesn't make them more often. Each takes 100 hours of meticulous work to produce. Well he just made four sets but we managed to only get two as some lucky friend stumbled into his shop and bought two on the spot before he could get them all to us. When these are gone there may or may not ever be any more made. He has already told us to not take any orders for them. These are hand-made on the bench and the set consists of: an ivory bobbin holding a nickel silver spool, a cape buffalo horn bobbin with nickel silver spool, a bodkin with an ivory handle and buffalo horn sheath, an ivory and horn hackle plier, an ivory and horn threader, an ivory and horn sheppard's hook, a nickle silver, ivory, and horn totem holding six extra nickel silver thread spools, and a nickel silver threaded arbor for refilling spools. These come in a custom rosewood box with a nickel silver maker's plate on the top and a velvet back to protect the box. Expensive, yes, but these are rare, exquisite, and heirloom pieces. Simply the best of the best.
